Over the years, I have found intuition to play an important role in the healing process. Without it, the mind, especially when influenced by the ego, runs the show, and it becomes all too easy to get caught up in the maze. In the maze, we are controlled and triggered by external voices, influences and stimuli, all of which represent distraction and keep us from the life we are here to live and the power we are meant to have.

In this article, I will teach you how to opt out, clear the channel and connect with your internal guidance system, your intuition. From this space, you can hear your own powerful voice, be at peace with the process and re-enter into your life in a new and empowered way.

Intuition is an interesting thing, it usually comes seemingly out of nowhere in the spaces when we least expect it. Sometimes, it enters without us even knowing what it is or how it’s different. Intuition, in the context of this article, can be defined as insight that stems from the formation of a relationship with your heart. You can recognize it by it’s whisper, feel it as an answer, see it as direction, and describe it as nonsense. The kind of nonsense that makes perfect sense.

But is there a way to cultivate it?

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that there is. We all have the ability to choose to become receptive to this part of ourselves. In practice, a big piece of what I do is teach my patients how to become intuitive, how to go within to find answers, and how to connect with themselves and to their hearts in a very different and direct way.

So despite what we have been told, I believe intuition is a gift available to us all- not something saved for the spiritual seekers and psychics. In fact, I would argue that this population is just as lost as the rest of us and even they have yet to cultivate it. Why? Because intuition comes from within. It comes from being fully present, introspective and having an intimate relationship with yourself and your heart- It does not come from the “spiritual realm”. Just like most people, spiritual seekers and psychics are often lost in the external world. Most of them hold the same fears that keep them from looking into the mirror. So they unknowingly look without insight, and in this way, they cannot see.

If you choose not to look within, I cannot help you. I cannot help you cultivate intuition if I cannot help you cultivate a relationship with yourself and your heart. However, if you find within yourself the daring desire and courageous nature it takes to go there, to go within, and become present, then I can help you along the way.

The first thing to know is that cultivating intuition, just like anything worthwhile, is a process that requires a multifactorial approach and cannot be summed up by a simple equation. It comes over time, as you address and let go of the issues that stand in your way from having a relationship with yourself. One of my teachers once said to me, “The clearer the path, the clearer the connection”. This message is what I seek to convey. The more you let go of what is not working for you, the clearer your path will become.

I highly recommend checking out a program like Let Go & Grow program or working with a teacher who can guide you through this process. Without an objective perspective and fresh set of eyes, it is very difficult to proceed and move forward. The guidelines that follow are very general in nature but are meant to draw a picture of the process and the necessary steps to take in order to cultivate intuition.

So let’s get started!

First, you must figure out where you are now, how you got there, what has kept you there and how to return to the present moment. Returning to the present moment is much like “turning on the light”. Once you are fully present and the light is finally on, you will begin to see all of the stuff you have buried and left unaddressed. This can leave you feeling overwhelmed and paralyzed as it often looks like an old and abused attic or some sort of back room, garage like area filled with dust, dirt and boxes that contain old and outdated thoughts, feelings and painful experiences. This is where most people turn the light back off and run for the hills. I can’t say I blame them.

However, if you choose to hang in there, with the right guidance, I promise things will gradually begin to free up as more and more light comes into the space you clear.

Which leads me into the next step, where it’s time to start cleaning up and clearing out by getting introspective. This is where you must evaluate your thoughts, feelings and choices and see what is and isn’t working for you and your life. When something is not working, you must change your perception in order to let it go. When you change your perspective by getting introspective, you get to the heart of the problem. By changing your perspective, your thoughts, feelings, choices and experiences will naturally change as a direct effect.

Another key element is to get comfortable with the ever changing because despite the illusion of control we may think we have, change is truly one of the only constants that we can actually depend on. It is important to learn how to go with the flow and have faith in yourself and in the process of life as you read the signs that come your way and know that everything and everyone is meant to help and guide you along the way.

Finally, to connect with yourself you must form a relationship with your heart. You can start to do this by simply placing your hands over it and consciously going to it rather than into the downward spiral of your thoughts that will only lead you further and further away from the freedom you desire. The reason it is important to go to your heart is because your heart honors your free will, whereas your ego, which influences thought patterns, does not. The more you form a relationship with your heart and address the issues that come your way, the less power your ego will have over you and your thoughts and the more space you will have to hear and see the intuition that is already there just waiting for you to choose it.

In conclusion, you already have intuition. You just have to choose it- as it is there waiting for you to get present, look within, be receptive to and have faith in the process as you form a relationship with yourself through your heart.

I hope this article has brought clarity to the process and what it takes to become truly intuitive. In the comments below, I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with intuition.
